Interview with My (S)hero™

(S)hero™ T Shirts Coming Soon!

A few weeks ago, my Mom competed in her first full powerlifting meet. I’ve shared in the past about her undergoing and recovering from a double prophylactic mastectomy, and this recent powerlifting meet was her “come-back” and proof that breast cancer and such an invasive procedure would not hold her back or keep her down.

My Mom with her badass trophy she received for setting a world record for her division

In light of these recent events, I decided to interview my Mom about her struggle, and ultimately her victory, with the mastectomy. Please watch this video and pass it along to any woman you know who could benefit. Her story is truly amazing, inspiring, and encouraging.

This article wouldn’t be complete without showing her success at the powerlifting meet. Here is a video of her performance at the SPF meet on November 12th where she set the world record for her division. To say she kicked ass is a complete understatement.

We will all face obstacles and set-backs in our lives, but my Mom proves that there are no excuses for not achieving your goals!

Announcing New Apparel Additions

In honor of my Mom, I am adding (S)hero™ t-shirts (as pictured above) and tank tops to the Beautiful Badass Apparel line. These will be available in the next couple of weeks. I’ll go into further detail about the (S)hero title in the near future. Until then . . .

Please help me spread this interview and triumphant victory around to as many people as possible by clicking the “Tweet” and “Like” buttons below.

Thanks, Marianne. :) It was a tough interview to get through since it was very personal. We had to do it a few times, but this ended up being the best one, so it worked out.

So moving and inspiring. What is also so touching is the bond you two have. Thanks so much for sharing.

Love this. Thank you so much for sharing your triumph. I struggle greatly with the chronic disease battles my family endures and it's refreshing to see a woman who refuses to succumb to what is measured as inevitable. Joanie proves that we can define our own destiny no matter the obstacles in our path.

That 115 was her “nemesis” so she was beyond happy when she got it. :)
