Lift like a girl

Interview on Iron Radio & Random Information

Last Friday I was a guest on Iron Radio. The show was lead by Phil Stevens, Dr. Lonnie Lowery, and Rob Fortney. These guys were great, and the show is titled Making It Fit.

If you want to download that interview and put it on your IPod, or just listen to it from your computer, click here now. The interview is about 55 minutes in duration.

On another note, I am an author for Fit Girl World. An article of mine has been posted recently – Train Like a Girl – that you should check out. It’s a spinoff from my post Should Women Train Like Men?

I am also keeping a training journal on that site to share my experiences in the gym and to show everyone how I am training for my current goal. If you would like to follow along, then click here. It’s listed under Journals and mine is called Training for Powerlifting Worlds Competition.

Finally, a quick note. I have shared with you that I am mostly vegetarian (check out Vegetarian Weight Loss for more information) but I eat meat on occasion. However, that is becoming less and less frequent. It was brought to my attention that I made it sound as if all meat was bad and should be avoided, and that was not my intentions.

I will say this: if you are going to eat meat, you are better off buying organic meat, or getting your meat from a local farmer’s market or farmer. Too often the big factory farms have animals living in horrid conditions, eating diets that are less than optimal, and they are butchered while they are still alive. Not to mention, many are being pumped full of hormones. Now in an effort to “kill bacteria” and what not, they are starting to put the meat through radiation.

If you eat meat, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that – it’s just my personal preference to greatly limit the amount of animal products I consume for personal reasons. With that said, I recommend you make sure the meat you consume comes from one of the sources I mentioned above. Yes, it may be a little more expensive, but your long term health is worth it.

I hope that clears everything up.

    Jack-

    Thanks!

Yeah, I read Alwyn's interview. As always, it was full of great information. I briefly glanced over the Time's article, but what I got out of it was very, let's say, interesting. : )
